GENEROUS DONATIONS MR BRYANT'S APPRECIATION Many generous donations have been made to assist in the erection and furnishng of the settlers' ballon, the Kairangi block of the Waikato Land Settlement at Roto-o-rangi, and appreciation of the gifts was expressed by the chairman of directors of the society, Mr D. V, Bryant, in an interview this week. Mr Bryant explained that the cost of the building was about £220, but it performed a valuable function- in the social life of the settlement and was one of the most forward steps taken.- He hoped that within a short time it would be possible to erect similar buildings at the other settlements at. Wharepapa and* tvl*a&whata.
He wished to thank the following donors: Mr R. A. Laidlaw (Auckland), £100; Messrs Speight, Pearce, Nicoll, Davys, Ltd. (Cambridge), £ls and 20 handsome wooden forms; Mrs D. V. Bryant, £lO 10/-; Sir Clutha and Lady McKenzie (Auckland), eight wicker chairs and a wicker table; Mr R. A. Candy (Ngarua), £2 2/-; and Messrs E. Johnston (Hamilton), and J. J. Ryburn, £1 1/-.
Mr Bryant also contributed £lO 10/-, the settlers provided £25, and £lO came from a local body grant. Considerable assistance was also gained from the Government building subsidy,
