MONTHLY MEETING HELD LIGHT ON THE LIQUOR TRAFFIC The monthly meeting of the Women's Christian Temperance Union was held in the St. Paul's Methodist school-room on Wednesday. Mrs A. W. Martin presided over a good attendance. After Temperance hymns had been sung, a very encouraging address was given by the Eev. W. J. Oxbrow. Some results of the Liquor Traffic were ascertained from a pamphlet issued by the New Zealand Alliance, which pointed out that in a time of great hardship, while agencies for helping the unemployed and distressed are calling for more money, there was spent on intoxicating liquor in New Zealand during 1934 the sum of £5,714,598, which is equal to £7fiS every hour of every day and every night. This year ing the general election the people will have an opportunity to decide whether these conditions are to continue in a Christian country. A profitable meeting was brought to a close with the Benediction.
