RICH GIRL TRAINED AS BOY.

Frau Rosie Grafenberg, journalist daughter of a rich German banker, was brought up like a boy. "You are not pretty, so we must make you interesting," her father told her. She is most exotically pretty now at' 35, says a writer in the "News Chronicle." 'ShYwas sent to the boys' gymnasium in Mannheim, took the degree of doctor of philosophy at Heidelberg in 1920, and then was sent to a bank in Berlin to learn banking. Frau Grafenberg married a famous Berlin gynecologist in 1921, and divorced him in 1924. She started a Parisian Press Service in Paris for German newspapers, writing all the articles herself! She was then dis-

covered toy Franz Ullstein, head of the great Berlin publishing house, publishers of Vicki Baum. She was sent to Russia, Timbuctoo and other places to write articles. She was the first German to be allowed to travel in French Morocco after the war (1926). She married Franz Ullstein in 1929 and divorced him, in 1930. Now, when she wishes to get her way, with her mother, she threatens to marry again.
