"HANGING GARDEN."

COSTERMONGER'S RESOURCE. A costermonger, who lives in an alley off the Borough Road, determined to have a flower garden even though he had. not one square inch of ground to grow anything, says the London "Observer." , He racked.his brains, telling himself over and over again that where there's.a will there's a way. At last he hit upon an idea which has made his little home the talk of the neighbourhood. He made himself a " hanging garden" by covering the front wall of his house with brackets, on which he stood brightly coloured flowers growing in pots. This costermonger flower lover is one of the most enthusiastic members of the South London Flower Lovers' Guild, and a photograph taken of his hanging garden was exhibited on the League's stand at the spring show of the London Gardens Guild, held at the old Horticultural Hall, Westminster, recently. Spring flowers grown by amateurs in all parts of the Metropolitan Police area were exhibited. One-of the most interesting sections was that devoted to paintingVof flowers by school children, nearly Wx hundred of whom competed. \ . - ,
