BOROUGH RATES
COMING IN WELL PENALTY AFTER FEBRUARY 22. On inquiry at the Town Clerk’s office on Thursday afternoon, Mr F. T. Ray informed us that borough rates were coming in quite well. Of the £6BOO struck, up to Tuesday last £1856 had been paid in, or 27-0 o per cent. For the previous financial year when £7370 was struck, a total of £IBBO was received up to the corresponding period, or 25.5 per cent. Ratepayers should note that the last day to escape the 10 per cent penalty 'is Thursday, February 22. The treasurer is prepared to receive rates in instalments.
