. LOWER WHOLESALE RATES, REDUCTION OF ID. A GALLON Yesterday the principal petrol distributing companies announced a reduction in the wholesale price of petrol by Id a gallon for both first and second grades, the lower price to become effective immediately. Advices from Auckland state that owing to price-cutting of late, there is not likely to be a further retail reduction there. The retail prices in the city are 1/8 to 1/10 a gallon. WELLINGTON & CHRISTCHURCH. SEDUCTION OF ONE PENNY. Press Association messages from Wellington and Christchurch advise a retail reduction of one penny at both centres. In Wellington the new prices are 1/7 and 1/9 a gallon and in Christchurch 1/7 and 1/8 a gallon. THE POSITION IN CAMBRIDGE. While the matter has been discussed by some of the local retailers, up to the time of our going to press no general decision on the future rates in Cambridge had been arrived at.
