NEWS IN A NUTSHELL
Capture of German Samoa. —To-day is the 19th anniversary of the capture of German Samoa by a N.Z. Expeditionary Force supported by Australian and New Zealand warships.
Mental Home Escapee. —The Cambridge police have detained another escapee from the Ivihikilii mental hospital, the escapee being taken in charge at Maungatautari. Cathedral Clock Tower. —Donations totalling £134 have so far been promised in connection with the proposal to instal a striking clock with four dials in St. Peter’s Cathedral tower.
Amateur Athletics. —A movement is afoot to resuscitate tho Cambridge Amateur Athletic Club. In the years following the war the local club was one of the most prominent in the North Island, some big meetings being held at Victoria Square. There are a number of enthusiasts in the district, and there are prospects of reorganising a now Athletic Club.
