WAIKATO HUNT

MEET AT TAMAHERE. EXCELLENT DAY’S SPORT. With a fine day and scent breast high, the mid-week meet of the Waikato hounds at Tamahere provided an excellent day’s hunting. The meet was at Mr W. Newell’s property, where hounds threw off and immediately found a hare which led the field round the farm at a very fast pace and was eventually killed in the plantation. The next hare circled Newell’s and on through Hooper’s and Hodgson’s, where she doubled back to the river and was killed. The third hare gave the best run of the day and she went straight away through Newell’s, Hodgson’s and on to the Tamahere store. Doubling back to the river bank she saved her scut by going to ground. , This Avas a long, fast run which gave the field a good gallop with plenty of jumping. The field was entertained to afternoon tea by Mr Newell, the Master, Mr Wynn Brown returning thanks. The last meet of the season will be at Fencourt on Saturday.
