CAMBRIDGE SHOW

MEETING OP COMMITTEE. ARRANGEMENTS FOR COMING FIXTURE. A meeting of the Waikato Central Agricultural Association committee was held in the secretary’s office on Friday last, when the chairman, Mr J. S. Fisher, presided. The chairman pointed out that economies would have to be effected in connection with the coming show. The meeting decided that instead of the usual sit-down luncheon, refreshments be in the form of counter lunches as at the railway stations. In view of the trouble experienced with side-showmen last year, it was agreed that fees for space must be paid before space is allotted. A suggestion was brought forward that the admission gates might be manned with volunteer labour, but as such a large number of the committee are engaged as stewards and in other official capacities, it was deemed impracticable to carry it out. Following the example of the system adopted at the Manawatu .Show this year by way of economy, it was decided to make use of braid instead of ribbon to make the awards in the various classes. It was agreed to reduce the price of advertising in the schedule and catalogue from 35/- to 30/" For page. The question of holding a steer-rid-ing competition met with favourable consideration and it was agreed to leave the matter in the L-nds oi the grounds committee to decide whether it was advisable to include it in this year’s programme. The secretary reported that a large number of usual contributors to the prize fund had again indicated their willingness to make donations. Royal Show. A letter was received fiom the Auckland Metropolitan Association asking the local association to support the former’s claim to have the .1932 Royal Show held at Auckland. It was pointed out that one of the rules governing the venue of the Royal Show is that it be hold in the spring. It was resolved to advise the Auckland Association that the committee will be pleased to support the claim if they are prepared to hold their show in the spring.
