The Auckland Education BoaTd yesterday appointed Miss I. Foster to the position of, head-teacher at the Goodwood school, to fill the post lately vacated by Mr Brown. Mr Campbell is at present acting as relieving teacher. Miss Foster comes from Stratford. She has high credentials, and comes with an excellent record.

Mr Jamos Thorn, of Wellington, has been ehosen as the official Labour Party candidate for the Otaki seat. The present member for Otaki is Mr W. H. Field, one of the oldest members of the House. Mr Field has intimated that this is his last term of office, and as Labour- candidates in the past havQ polled well, Mr Thorn is likely to make a bold bid for the seat.
