A BELATED SUMMER. CAMBRIDGE CLIMATIC STATION. The month of March, just past, was remarkable for its long stretch of beautiful summer weather. Rain fell on only four days of the v month, and in each case the rain was only of short Juration, though heavy. On March Ist ,60in. fell and on March Bth .72in., both falls being in the nature of thunderstorms and both occurring on 1 Saturdays. The total rainfall for the month in Cambridge was 1.85in./falling on four days. Auckland escaped the two thunderstorms on March Ist and Bth, and the rainfall for the month in the city was only .24in. less than a quarter of an inch, which is the record lowest March rainfall for the 74 years during which rainfall records have been taken in the city. In March of last year the rainfall in Cambridge' was 4.92 in,, and the average fall for the previous seven' years was 3.65 in. In March of 1903 only 1.74 in. fell in Cambridge. For the first three months of the present year we have had 10.27 in. of rain, falling on 31 days, compared with 7.39in. for the corresponding period of last r year. ' Abundant Sunshine. It was a particularly sunny month, there being not a single day without some sunshine. The total sunshine for the month was 233 hours 42min., compared with 257 hours 55min. recorded in Auckland, which is regarded as a record for the city. The mean maximum temperature in the shade was 72.9 deg., .and the mean minimum 47.3 deg., these figures being compared with 73 deg. and 62 deg. respectively at Auckland city. The hottest day was on the IBth, when 77. G deg. was registered in the shade. Two. Frosts. There were two very slight frosts — on the 27th, when .3 deg. was registered, and on the following night, when .4 deg. of frost was recorded at Cambridge. • Little Wind.

The month was singularly free from 1 wind, the total run for the month ing only 1294 miles, as compared with 2383 miles in February.
