“SUNNY SIDE UP.” ' GAYNOR-FARRELL TRIUMPH. The premiere screening in the Waikato of “Sunny Side Up” on Saturday evening, drew a capacity house and many intending patrons who failed to take the precaution of booking their seats had to be turned away. All parts of Central Waikato were represented, and Hamiltonians, despite the opening of a new theatre there the same evening, commissioned five buses and five or six times as many private cars. Last night again the attendance was an exceptional one and well filled the theatre.

Two great stars, an all-star supporting cast, a delightful story, plenty of comedy and seven original song successes, is the combination presented in this musical comedy, featuring Janet Gaynor and Charles Farrell. These two stars making their musical comedy debut gave an amazing performance. Both have pleasing voices and sang their songs in a. manner that brought bursts of applause from the audiences. Miss Gaynor also blossoms out as a dancer, and proves she is as proficient in the terpsichorean art as she is in acting.

Sharon Lynn, Frank Richardson, Marjorie White and El Brendcl, in the supporting cast of principals, gave excellent performances and received their fair share of acclaim also.

The film is productive of seven song “hits," including “Sunny Side Up," “I'm a Dreamer," and “Turn on the Heat." The latter song forms the basis of the final scene, which is very cleverly produced and a fitting climax to the picture. David Butler directed “Sunny Side Up" and Seymour Felix, celebrated dance director, staged the ensembles, and song numbers. There is a chorus of 100 dancing and singing ballet dancers, who appear in several of the scenes. The supporting programme consists of excellent featurettes, and quite up to the standard Cambridge talkies are noted for.

COMING FEATURES. ' The following “big" features have been secured by Amalgamated Theatres, Ltd., and will be shown in Cambridge shortly:— “The Cockeyed World," with Victor McLaglen; “Devil May Care," Ramon Navarro; “Marianne," Joan Crawford; “Flight," Jack Holt; “Peacock Alley"; “Atlantic"; “Under the Greenwood Tree," and several other that will be mentioned later.
