PLUNKET AND REST ROOMS

OFFICIAL OPENING. ON THURSDAY NEXT. The new Plunket and rest rooms Cambridge—the tangible result of the recent successful Queen Carnival—have now been completed, and the new buildings will be officially opened on Thursday next, at 2 p.m. The building, though not largo, is a very handsome one, - and apart from the utilitarian point of view—which, of course, is the first consideration—it is a welcome addition to the architecture of the town, more particularly in the locality in which it stands, which in the past has been somewhat drab and uninviting. The structure is substantial, convenient and up-to-date in its appointments, and will doubtless prove of great value to the town and district.

The erection of the building has been in the hands of the Central Committee set up by the public, of which body Mr J. S. Fisher is the chairman, and that gentleman will act as Master of Ceremonies on Thursday. The official opening will be performed by the member for the district, Mr.F. Lye, while Mr C. H. Priestley (Mayor) will take over the rest room as representative of the citizens of Cambridge. Doubtless there will be a large and interesting gathering at the opening ceremony to fittingly celebrate the culmination of the efforts of the peoplo in this direction.
