SAVE THE MOTHERS
OBSTETRICAL SOCIETY’S APPEAL CAMBRIDGE COMMITTEE ACTIVE. Yesterday afternoon at S'. Andrew’s Hall a meeting of the local committee working in connection with the appeal of the Obstetrical .Society for funds for the endowment of a Chair of Obstetrics at the- New Zealand Medical School, was held. There was a representative attendance of 35. present, including Dr S. li. de la Marc and Mrs Kent-John-ston, of Hamilton. The- president, Mrs S. Lewis, presided. Dr de la Mare gave an informative address on the facts of the'appeal, and the progress being made. Mrs ICentJohnston explained what was being done in Hamilton.
A statement of progress to date in the Cambridge district was presented by the hon. secretary, Mrs S. N. Ziman. As the result of a previous meeting and: yesterday’s meeting the whole of the Cambridge district was divided into sections- with representatives appointed to cover each. The meeting was a very enthusiastic one, and it is fairly certain that Cambridge- will reach its; objective, £IOO. After the meeting a dainty afternoon tea was- served.. . The district member, Mr Fred Lye, gave- a good start yesterday r when liepromptly replied to the smiling request of the secretary with a guinea donation, and congratulated the committee on its activity.
