Mr W. K. Hounscll, who has been managing the business during Mr H. L. Possenniskic’s absence on holiday, returns to his home at Devonport today.

It is officially announced that, the Prime Minister, Sir Joseph Ward, will leave Wellington on Sunday for Rotorua to continue the treatment he has been receiving.

. A presentation of a case of pipes was made to Archbishop Avcrill, who will leave shortly to attend the Lambeth Conference, at the annual meeting of the Flying Angels Missions to Seamen at Auckland.

Mr F. W. W. Weston, chief of the Hansard reporting staff, and a very well-known journalist, has been for some weeks in Cambridge enjoying a complete rest. Ho has derived great benefit as a result of his sojourn here.

Mr E. H. O ’Meara, the popular Hamilton racing secretary, who recently linderwent an operation at “Cassell” private hospital, is reported to be progressing satisfactorily.

The Governor-General designate, Lord Bledisloe, and Lady Bledisloe, with Lieutenant J. C. Elworthy, R.N., aide-de-camp, will arrive at Wellington on the motor vessel Rangitiki, which is due on March 19.

Mr W. Donovan, of the Dominion Laboratory, has been appointed Dominion analyst in succession to Dr J. S. Maclaufin, who is to retire at the end of the month.

Mr L. B. Flanagan, who has been on the clerical staff of the local railway office for the past year, has received notice of his transfer to Oamaru, for which place he leaves on Tuesday evening. His successor is Mr C. S. Howell, late of Tliorndon Station, Wellington. ENGAGEMENT. The engagement is announced of Mavis Winifred, eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs Sidney Tombs, of Hamilton, and Warwick, youngest son of Mr and Mrs J. Varney, also of Hamilton.
