Sir George Hunter, Reform M.P. for Waipawa, is making an excellent recovery from the indisposition which laid him aside last session. Sir George is now abflut again, taking daily walks and motor car drives.

Hon. E. W. Alison, in appreciation of his 22 years of service as a member of the Auckland Harbour Board, was presented with a framed photograph of the board members at a meeting of the board yesterday.

Mr and Mrs A. Holmes and Mrs Davys, senr., of Kirkwood'Street, returned to Cambridge on' Tuesday, after spending an enjoyable fortnight’s holiday at Thornton’s Bay, Thames.

Among the visitors to the Cambridge Show yesterday were Mr F. Lye, M.P., also Messrs W. G. Law (president Te Puke Association), 11. Reid (vice-presi-dent Opotiki Show), and Mr W. K. Francis (Pukckohe). A telegram was received from Mr J. A. l r oung, M.P., regretting his inability to be. present, and wishing the Show all success.

A Japanese girl graduate of Yokohama University, Miss Yuki Kimura, who has come to join the national staff of the Y.W.C.A. in New Zealand arrived by the Ulimaroa at Wellington on Tuesday. Miss Kimura took an arts course and- later was the only woman taking a theological course at Kyoto University, but this was interrupted by her present .travels. ’ Miss Kimura hopes to investigate industrial conditions in New Zealand.

The death has occurred at Hokitika, of the Hon. H. L. Michel, M.L.C., at the age of 75 years. Mr Michel was born in Australia, but has resided at Hokitika since his early youth. He was mayor of Hokitika and took a prominent part in local body work. He unsuccessfully contested the Westland scat in 1906, 1908 and 1911, and was called to the Upper House in 1918.
