CAMBRIDGE BAND

MONTHLY. MEETING The monthly meeting of the Municipal Band was hold in the Council Chambers on Thursday last when Mr W. White (chairman) presided over a good attendance. Prior to commencing business the chairman welcomed Bandsman Joyce to the committee. Apologies for absence were received from Messrs A. Columbus and J. Wilkinson. It was decided to tender the sum of £25 for band services at the Ngaruawahia Regatta, this to be sent forward if the Bandsmen themselves can get off. Playing at Show. The Waikato Central Agricultural Association wrote asking for the band at the show. It was decided to play at the show, the fee to be the same as previously, namely, £lO 10/-. . Bandmaster's Beport. The bandmaster's (Mr J. Davis) leport was then road, which showed the band to be progressing very satisfactorily. The Bandmaster reported having placed before the members the question of transferring the contest fund to a building fund and had met with the full support of the band. It was decided to write the council asking for particulars of suitable borough sections for building a new band room. General. It was decided to write A. Eady and Co., Auckland, re purchasing a secondhand single B flat bass instrument and to dispose of the two old brass instroments now on hand. The band roll showed a total membership of 23. The Bandmaster reported having commenced a learners' class which is already proving satisfactory.
