In studying the cards returned for the Bogey Cup I find that again the longer handicap players had a field day and supplied the leading ( scores. Eobinson, who returned a card of. 4 up, was the winner of last year's junior championship.- Early"; in "the season he was playing badly, but has now appeared to settle down. His latest round was remarkably steady and only two holes were;lost to bogey.; "It was a fine performance, but he' is closely followed by E. Niekle and James, who were each 3 up. The former has been playing good golf for several weeks, and will be very dangerous when the final day's-play comes round. The same remarks apply to James. His latest effort for a medal round was extremely good, and would have produced a nett score of 62. Sawers played a nice even round and was 1 up on the "Colonel." J. ; "Banks, the lowest handicap, player on the course,-showed glimpses of a return to form; when he finished all square.. He went out in 43 and home in 40. A. W. Nicoll spoiled his card with five 6's, but only firiished 1 down. A. H.;: Nicoll had similar lapses, but was only. 2 down. He, took six 6/s and a 7, but the rerilaining 11 holes were extremely, useful. Eowland" returned a useful card of 2 down, and with the exception,of four holes his score was good, J. Haworth and Pearce, both of whom are first-season playeTs, returned cards of 3 down. It is gratifying to find the younger players settling down to the game so quickly. F. Entwisle was 4 down after being all square at the turn. He played bad golf on the homeward journey. The remainder of the 6eld played badly, and among this number Alford and Sutherland returned indifferent cards. Neither of these players have shown much form this season, and find it extremely .difficult to concede the strokes they are required to dp.
