A splendid wharcpuni, which when completed will contain some i of the finest productions of Maori craftsmanship, "is in course- of construction at Murupara, a picturesque Maori village occupying an isolated- spot 43 miles from Rotorua, at the confluence of the Rangitaiki and Whirinaki Rivers. The builders of the -wharepuni are two old Maoris from Whakatane, who arc doing the whole of the work from hard manual labour involved to the carving of the most intricate designs. Hamilton possesses a claimant to .the Jennings millions in the person of Mr A. H. Strong, of Boundary Road, Claudelands. Mr Strong's mother, who died recently, was a sister of Mrs Emily Rowe, of Thames, and a granddaughter of Mr William Thomas Malone. Miss Mary Jennings, a niece of the founder of the fortune, married Mr Malone, through whom Mr Strongclaims to be a relative, of Mr Jennings. It is added by Mr Strong that he will be surprised if the many descendants of the Malone-Jennings' union are able to establish their claim. He says he believes there is a birth certificate missing, the absence of which precludes any chance of litigation ending successfully.
