JERSEY BREEDERS

THE CAMBRIDGE CLUB. ,•;"■' ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of the Cainbridge Jersey Breeders' Cattle Club was hold in the Power Board's office on Saturday, when the president, Mr A. E. Peppercorn, presided over an attendance of twelve 'members. Apologies were received from Messrs E. Veale and H. J. Arnbury. ' ; J ' Report. The report stated that the year was commenced with the club in a good fin- , ancial position of £6 2s credit. This was considerably less than that which the club faced the preceding year, due largely to the fact that the A. and P. Association was subsidised to a greater extent, a fall in subscriptions, and to the fact that the c'ub received less than expected from the New Zealand" Jersey Breeders' Association. A fairly - successful bull sale was held and the \ club was able to subsidise the Jersey section at the local show to the extent of £3O. Encouraging support to the classes justified the expense. The Balance Sheet. The balance sheet Showed that the year commenced with a credit of £6 2s and concluded with a credit of £3 17s 3d. . The secretary stated that a few sub- *. scriptions had yet to come in. Election of Officers. President, Mr A. E>. Peppercorn (reelected); vice-presidents, Messrs R. Wattam and J. T. Entwisle; committee, Messrs E. Vcale, A. J. McFarlane, R. Atkinson, and ex officio'officers; secretary, Mr A. Entwisle. Mr A. Gascoigne did not seek re-elec-tion and he was accorded a hearty vote • of thanks for his services during a period of three years. Bull Sale Committee: Messrs E. Veale and R. Wattam. Combined Breeders' Bull Sale. In connection with the combine i auctioneers' bull sale and the club's annual sale held at the same time, Mr Campbell thought that the sales should be held earlier than in the past, but no action was taken. Bull Classes at Royal Snow. On the suggestion of Mr E. Veale it. was resolved to forward a remit to the association annual conference that at, the next Royal Show there be two classes for aged bulls. One class to be open and the other restricted to New Zealand -bred bulls. Venue of Conference. > The president brought up the matter of the venue of the annual conference and thought they should make a move to have a conference held at Cambridge. The district had advantages. It was central and, there were attractions that should appeal to delegates. The secretary was instructed to write making application in this' direction. , Donation of Cup. It was reported that Mr W. J. Ghy- * noweth had generously donated a silver cup as a points' prize for the Jersey section at the local show, the condition being that the trophy cannot be won outright. The donor, who was the winner of the points' prize last year, was heartily thanked for his generous action.
