OBITUARY

MR ALFRED JAMES BOND. After a short illness the death occurred at Hamilton on Sunday of Mr Alfred James Bond, aged 43 years. Deceased, who was the son of the late Mr J. S. Bond, was born in Cambridge but for the greater part of his life had been a resident of Hamilton. He served in the Great War, and was wounded ou Gallipoli and gassed in France, being mentioned in despatches twico. When he returned home'he entered into business with his brother as stationers and printers. Since his brother's death some months ago, Mr Alfred Bond carried on the business on his own account. He was identified with various local associations, generally respected by all who knew him, and general sympathy will be extended to his widow and relatives in their bereavement. MR JAMES BUTTLE. The death occurred suddenly yesterday afternoon, at his home in Epsom, of Mr James Buttle, aged 7o years, formerly general manager of the N.Z. Insurance Co. A son of the Bev. George Buttle, one of the first Wesleyan missionaries in New Zealand, deceased was among the best-known business men in Auckland. The late Mr Buttle was also well-known in this district. Mr Bur tie was predeceased by his wife, and leaves two sons and three daughters. MRS WAIT. The death is.reported, from Arlington, Melbourne, on March 29th last, of Mrs Alice Louisa, wife of Mr 11. H. Wait, late of Kaipaki, and daughter of the late Dt Scaly, of Nelson.
