PERSONAL.
Mrs A. Clarke, of Ellis Street, Frankton, celebrated her 90th birthday yesterday. Mrs Clarke, who is still hale and hearty, came to New Zealand from Canada 73 years ago. Prior to his departure for Samoa, to take up the position of Administrator, the Mayor of Morrmsville, Mr S. S. Allen, was the recipient of a pipe and the good wishes of the council. I,'ev. J. D. and Mrs MeArthur (late of Cambridge) were entertained at a social gathering at Levin on Tuesday last (says the Levin Chronicle), when a great crowd of people assembled to do honour, prior to their departure for Palmerston North, after four years'* very successful service at Levin. Addresses were given stressing the splendid services rendered by Itev. MeArthur, not only as minister of the Methodist Church, but also as chairman of the District High School, lecturer to the W.E.A., and to the Chamber of Commerce. Mr MeArthur was presented with a well-filled wallet and presentations were a,lso made to Mrs MeArthur and Misses Margaret and Airdre MeArthur.
