COUNCIL’S MONTHLY MEETING GENERAL BUSINESS. The April meeting of the Waipa County Council was held at Te Avvamntu yesterday, when there were present, Crs D. Stewart Reid (chairman), J. S. Fisher, A. Livingstone, E. G. Speiike, S. Saulbrcy, A. H. Storey, W. McCarthy, E. F. Peaeocke, W. McGee, S. Cl Macky, C. M. Alexander and H. T. Reilly. : The engineer (Mr J. W. Civil) and clerk (Mr T. Grant) were also in attendance. The Roto-o-rangi Road. -In forwarding balance due for rates Mr A. Hewson, Roto-o ; rangi, wrdte:— “I thought this 1 road was outside the Waipa boundaries. Your instructions don’t carry much weight in regard to fixing up our road. It has never been fixed up yet, and I can see a bad winter in front of us. I saw one report that' the road w*as in/ good order. I don’t know what they call in good order when the water-table is the wheel track in the middle of the road. It is alright looking at our road after a dry spell. Let them look at it in the winter months after some rain and then I think they would have a little consideration for us. Hoping the in: struetions you gave at a meeting some months ago will soon bo carried out. ’ ’ —The engineer is endeavouring to get the promised work done. Sale of Sections. The county solicitors advised as to the proposed sale 1 of three sections aj; Cambridge West, and indicating a certain line of action. High Level Bridge Maintenance. Cr Fisher reported the outcome of his discussions with the Leamington Town Board, on the subject of , the board relieving the county of 5 per cent of the high level bridge mainten.anee. The board had agreed to the request. /■- Confirmation of the new arrangement was received from the Town Board, which will now contribute lo per, cent of the maintenance cost. v Rural Counties’ Assoojation Conference. The Rural Counties’ Association convened a meeting of delegates for Thursday, loth April at Hamilton, to discuss several matters, including petrol tax, native land settlement and rating, hospital, levies, operation of the Main Highways Act, operation of the Motor Vehicles Act, and heavy traffic licenses. —Cr Fisher is to be Waipa’s delegate. , . r
