MAUNGATAUTARI
TENNIS OPENING. (From Our Own Correspondent). The official opening of the Maungatartari Tennis Club was held on Monday last, when, despite threatening weather conditions, a most successful afternoon's tennis was enjoyed by all present. The courts were in very fair order; a deal of good work having been done by working bees held during the past few weeks. Mr R. Kirkby, as chairman of the Club, spoke a few words, welcoming visitors and new members, and then called upon the president (Mr Kirkby) to perform the official opening ceremony.
The passing of the ball across the net marks the beginning of what we hope will be a most successful tennis season.
