Archbishop Julius intends to visit England early next year, accompanied by his daughter, Miss Julius.
Mr J. W. (locks, of Whakataiie, and erstwhile, of this town, is on a visit to the district, and at present is staying at Matangi.
Dr Douglas, of Hamilton, has been elected a member of the. College of Surgeons, which has just met in conference at New York. Sir Lindo Ferguson, of Dunedin, was elected an honorary fellow.
At :t social tendered to Mr H. E. Holland. Leader of the Labour Party, at Wellington, he was presented with a well-filled gold-mounted wallet, and an oil painting of himself inscribed. Mr Semple, in making the presentation, insisted that Mr Holland and his wife should take a long holiday, five from all platform work, after the session has ended'.
