At a meeting of the Hamilton Technical School Advisory Board regret was expressed that the Education Department had docidod to make the compulsory clauses in tho Education Act in so far as they applied to technical sehools inoperative. In Hamilton, under compulsory clauses, really strong classes had been established, and oxcollent work had boon dono in cabinetmaking, woodwork, engineering, electricity and magnitism, telegraphy, screw cutting and turning, plumbing, inoehanical drawing, etc. Tho board is strongly of opinion that compulsory regulations should again be made operative, and the secretary was authorised to write to the Education Department askingthai the board's wishes may be granted.
