STILL MORE RAIN

HEAVY FLOODS EXPERIENCED SERIOUS POSITION IN LOW-LYING COUNTRY. After a short period of beautiful weather last week, rain again set in, and the week-end was exceedingly dismal and wet. Saturday was a shockingly wet day. Eain set in early in tho morning, and continued without intermission the whole day, and the greater part of the night. So persistent was the downpour that all football matches "and other sports wore declared "off." There was not much rain on Sunday, but it was a very damp, dismal day. At Koto;o-rangi the rainfall for the past four days has totalled 3.27 in, the figures being: 6th, .10in; 7th, 2.16 in; Sth, .27in; 9th, .74in. The glass is now rising. It has risen 28 points since yesterday, and the prospects are brighter. Auckland city's rainfall for the" in-nth up to 9 a.m. yesterday totallod 3.59 in. HAMILTON." HAMILTON, Juno 9. At the intersection of "Wellesley and Queen Streets the water reached to the top of the pavements and for a short period shopkeepers in this area fearer an inundation. The rainfall in Auckland for the 48 hours ending midnight on Sunday totallod 3.45 inches. IN OTHER DISTRICTS. THAMES, Monday. As a result'of the torrential downpour during the week-end the Hauraki Plains district is very much flooded. The banks of the Piako are not discernible as the river is one sheet of water half a mile wide. There is no flooding at Thames or Parawai. In the Paeroa district the same conditions were experienced' but no damage has been reported. At Morrinsville 1.60 inches was registered between 10 a.m. and 4 p,m. on Saturday
