TENNIS DANCE
A SOCIAL SUCCESS.
The annual dance held by the Cambridge Tennis Club was held at the Town Hall on Thursday evening last, and was an unqualified success in every way. Some 110 couples indulged in dancing, to the excellent music supplied by Mr Banfield’s orchestra (Messrs C, Banficld, piano; YV. Litclnvark, violin; e T. Davis, cornet; and Looker, sidedrum), extras being played by Mr Hampshire. Thanks to the careful preparation made, the floor was in splendid order. The hall had been very prettily decorated with coloured streamers, balloons, etc., and a pleasing feature of the evening was the display of coloured lights, which gave a picturesque effect to the scene. Messrs F. Swayne, G. Bain and ,T. Haworth, the M’s.C., kept things going merrily, with the result that one and all present doclarcd it to be- an exceedingly enjoyable function. The ladies had spent much time in the preparation of a most, delectable supper, which reflected credit on all responsible, and was done ample justice to by the large assemblage. The supper-room decorations were particularly pleasing. Altogether all concerned have every reason to be well pleased with the success of the dance.
Details of the ladies' dresses appear in our social columns.
