Calvert (Chamber of Commerce). ? ’ Speaking to his motion, Cr Wells said that during the last two years there had been an extraordinary influx of members to the Golf Club, and their present links was too small. Their lease also expired in two years, and there was not much chance of having it renewed. He considered a good golf links would be a decided asset to the town, and would attract many visitors. The motion was seconded by the Mayor, who agreed with Cr Wells’ remarks.

Or Ilicharls thought such uction would oulv load to complications. If tin* Council owned the links they would soon have the question of Sunday playing to face; and then other sports bodies would be asking for similar support. The Mayor pointed out that by supporting the motion they were not committing themselves to support the carrying out of the scheme,, but only the collecting of data. The motion was carried.
