THE RUGBY GAME. JUNIOR CUB FINAL WON BY LEAMINGTON As a curtain-raiser to the senior match, Leamington and City second grade teams played off the. final for the Junior Cup. Both Clubs placed strong teams in the field, although City was somewhat weakened by the absence of one or two well-known players.' A close and interesting game resulted in a victory for Leamington by II points to 9.

Unfortunately during the progress of the match several players met with more or less serious injuries, which, however, all appeared to be the result of pure accident. On the City side, G. Entwistle sustained a fractured rib, Stallard a dislocated finger and .Shannon a severe cut on tho forehead. The two former, however, played throughout. A few minutes before the end of the game E. Hall, the Leamington captain, dislocated his shoulder. City kicked off and close play ensued for a short space. Then A. Busso put in several fast dashes, gaining much ground. City were hard pressed near their line when Harris secured and drew first blood for Leamington. Hall failed to convert. Immediately after the kick off City attacked, and were within striking distance for some time. Finally Leamington infringed and Ingham kicked a goal for City, making the score equal. The reverse aroused the blue and whites and from a forward rush E. Hall got over and Douglas converted. Soon after M. Busso scored another try for Leamington, but Douglas failed with the kick.

On changing ends City put up a strenuous fight, play moving fast from end to end. Eventually, from a forwavd scramble F. Hagan scored for City, but no goal resulted. On resuming after half-time fast play continued, but the handling was faulty, and both sides lost chances. Eventually, after a sustained attack the ball came out favourably for City and Ivellv scored, but again the kick failed.

With a deficiency of two points on commencing the last quarter, City made determined efforts to gain the lead, but the defence of Leamington was too sound. Just on call of time Learnington worked into City twenty-five, where A. Busso secured and raced over at the corner. Douglas failed to convert, and the game ended, Leamington 14, City 9. Mr F. Cambridge A. defeated Eastern Combined by 6 points to 3. For the winners J. Vcar scored a try and Monk kicked a goal from a mark. For Combined, Edwards kicked a penalty goal. Mr C. A. Care was referee.
