A MAD ACT SMASHES WINDOW WITH HAMMER, (By Telegraph—Press Association) WELLINGTON, this day. Pedestrians in the vicinity of Stewart Dawson's jewellery shop, at the corner of Lambton Quay and Willis St., yesterday were somewhat startled to hear a loud crash of plate-glass, and to see an elderly man in labourer's attire, attacking the Willis Street windows of the shop with a hammer. A constable on duty promptly arrested the man, who proved to be William Parker, a waterside worker, who shortly afterwards was sentenced in the Magistrate's Court to a month's imprisonment on a charge of incitement to violence. Parker was on his way to Court when he performed tho deed. DOMINION RIFLE CLUBS SCHEME APPROVED (By Telegraph—Press Association) WELLINGTON, July 21. The proposal of the New Zealand Rifle Clubs executive to form a National Rifle Association of New Zealand in place of the existing Dominion Rifle Association, was endorsed by a large meeting of Wellington riflemen to-night. The meeting unanimously approved the scheme. Major-General Chaytor expressed to the chairman of the New Zealand Rifle Clubs' executive his approval, and Wished the new association every success. ■ -'*■ • '■•'•■, • During the week further meetings are to be held in various parts of the Dominion.
