The annual balance sheet was read and adopted, the chairman stating that he considered it highly satisfactory. The clerk also read the surfaceman's report on the work done in the Board's area during the year.

The regular monthly meeting of the Board was then proceeded with, the same members being present. The chairman drew the attention of 'the members to the advisability of having an Act passed bringing Town Board elections into line with the other elections which are usually held in April, instead of SeP tember - The elections would then come at the beginning of tho financial year instead of at the middle. The clerk was asked to write to the Minister of Internal Affairs with a view to having the date of the elections altered, and also to circularise other Boards asking them to co-operate in the matter.

An extract was read from the Finance Act, 1921-22, showing that the Town Boards' Act, 1908, had been amended. It was resolved that the Board should borrow from the Bank of New Zealand sums not exceeding their legal borrowing limit.

The clerk was instructed to write to the Secretary of the Electric Power Board, asking that the lights in the Leamington streets be turned on at the same time as those in Cambridge. A committee was set up to investigate what share of the cost of painting the high level bridge should be paid by the Board, and if this were not too heavy, the committee was given power to call tenders for the painting of the Town Hall. The question of noxious weeds was again brought up, the chairman stating that he had not seen them so bad for ten years. It was decided to take steps to enforce ratepayers to keep their properties free from noxious weeds. The balance at the bank showed a credit of £35 19/9. Accounts amounting to £27 11/9 were passed for payment. DOMAIN BOARD DECISIONS. GROUNDS CARETAKER DESIRED The same members then sat as the Domain Board. It was decided to write to Mr C» B. Carpenter, secretary of the Rugby Football Union, asking that some responsible person be appointed to fulfil this office on Saturday afternoons. Mr W. Stopt'ord was appointed ranger for the Domain grounds. Accounts for 14/ were passed for payment.
