SEVERE EARTHQUAKES
MUCH DAMAGE DONE

Two severe earthquake shocks were experienced at Ruatorca, near the East Capo, yesterday afternoon. Many chimneys were cracked, and damage was done in several stores. Huge rocks were seen falling from the mountains up Tapuaroa Valley. BRIEF LIBERTY P RISONER RECAPTURED (By Telegraph—Press Association) ‘ WELLINGTON, Sept. 7. WELLINGTON, Sept. 7.
A house, occupied by a Chinese gardener at Miramar, was destroyed by fire to-day, and £4OO in notes lost.
