THE WAIKATO HOUNDS.

SATURDAY’S MEET,

On Saturday last the hohnds met at “ Lochiel,” Ohaupo, and those who turned out were treated to the finest day’s sport that they have ever experienced in that district. The first hare was found in the swamp below the homestead, .and she gave a slashing run of about six miles over the Lochiel hills. There was a burning scent, and with the exception of one or two checks the pace was a cracker from find to finish. Puss saved her suit by going to ground in a rabbit warren. The second hare gave just such another run, but over fresh country; she was eventually run into the open and killed within a stone’s-throw of the Lochiel homestead. By this time both hound and horses had had about enough, so the order was to knock-off. Mr and Mrs W. Taylor kindly entertained all to afternoon tea, which was much appreciated. Mr and Mrs Taylor were toasted in bumpers With musical honors. So ended a very enjoyable day’s outing.—Correspondent.
