The cession of Tahiti by the French Government is officially contradicted. TIDAL WAVES. Colombo, January 7. Three hours after the seismograph at Laibach, recorded a great submarine disturbance on Friday, a tremendous tidal wave visited the Southern Coast of Ceylon similiar in phenomena to those following the Krakatoa volcanic outbreak. ’FRISCO EARTHQUAKE AND FIRE. The Superior Court of California has upheld the Williamsburg City Insurance Company’s contention that it is not liable for losses attributable to the earthquake. THE CITY OF PANAMA WRECK. New York, January 7. Mexican advices state that all on board the steamer City of Panama, wrecked at the Pescadores, are safe.
