Auckland, This Day. Captain Wynyard brought with him an invitation from the M.G.C. to send a New Zealand cricket team to England. This was not to have been announced till later in the season, but owing l to his ■ return ito England, Captain Wynyard* ' has made it public now, and hopes it will be accepted.
NEW COAL COMPANY FLOATED. Wellington, This Day. Advice has been received at Westport from London, stating that the Wesport Railway and Naval Coal Coy. has been floated in London to work the colliery - area known as Cook’s Lease at Wesport, and that money for development is now available. OBITUARY. Gisborne, This Day. News has been received of the death at Taupo of Mr J. P. Johnston, a well- < known commercial traveller for Messrs Macky, Logan and Company. Pie was recently manager of their Gisborne branch. SALES OP YEARLINGS. Auckland, Yesterday. At the sale of Glenora Park yearlings,' , >lB lots realised 2336 guineas. The chief prices were : a Mensehikoff, Golden Rose - ' colt, 400 guineas, bought by Mr K." Heaton ; Soult—Roxana i colt, 400 i guineas, Mr G. Robinson; Soult— ■ Hotcherina colt, 400 guineas, Mr A. Hughes; Soult—Vieux Rose colt, 410 guineas, Mr G. Robinson. ’
At the Cambria Park sale, eight year- i lings fetched 1102 guineas. A Soult— Sprite colt, brought 500 ginuesj Mr O. Matthews’being the purchaser, and a Seaton Delaval—Harpist, 325 guineas, ’ F Mr C. Dawson.
