A buggy conveying Messrs Edmonds and H. Matthews was smashed up a few days back at Te Uku. Before going down a hill they effected some repairs to the brakes, but these were not of a very substantial nature, and on the decline the brakes would not hold, with the result that the buggy raced on to the horses, causing the latter to bolt. Fortunately for Messrs Edmonds and Matthews they were driving the horses from the side of the track. The horses galloped down the hill towards the creek, and when crossing the bridge the vehicle fouled the handrail and carried away some of the timbers. The horses were eventually pulled up after a general smash-up of the vehicle. The horses were unhurt. EXCRUCIATING PAIN. Many a sufferer who has long endured excruciating pains of rheumatism, lumbago, sciatica, gout, and kindred diseases, is now completely cured—a free man. These diseases are caused by accumulations in the blood of poisonous uric acid. Rheumo, the great rheumaaic remedy, neutralises and drives out the uric acid, relieves the pain, removes the swelling, and speedily effects a permanent cure. Your chemist or storekeeper sells it at 2s 6d and 4s 6d a bottle.
