FENCOURT DRAINAGE BOARD.
The monthly meeting of this Board was held at Cambridge on Saturday evening, when there were present: Messrs E. Swayne (chairman), T. W. Brown, A. Jamieson, J. Hannon and W. H. Goodwin. the contractor. A letter was received from Mr T. H. Kelly, contractor for the drain, stating he did not think Mr Stubbings, the late engineer to the Board, had given him all he was entitled to for work done from the commencement of his contract to the three mile peg. He stated he had mentioned the matter to the present engineer, Mr E. J. Fairburn, who would measure up the work and rectify the error, if there is any, if the Board would consent to his so doing. The Board did not wish to withhold anything that was due to the contractor, and instructed the clerk to ask Mr Fairburn to go over the work and ascertain if there is any error. the clerk. The Chairman stated that when the clerk was appointed at a salary of only .£lO per annum, it was specially resolved that a bonus for extra work in connection with the initiation of the Board should be given to him. He moved that the sum of £lO be granted to the Clerk for the extra work. This was duly seconded and unanimously agreed to. ACCOUNTS. The following accounts were passed for payment: Waikato Argus, 10s 6d ; Independent, 12s ; Crowther and Bell, £4 7s 6d. ELECTION. Arrangements were made for holding the triennial election of members of the Board, which takes place on the sth prox., and the meeting terminated.
