RE CAMBRIDGE SPRING HORSE SALES.

(to the EDITOR.)

Sir, —The importance of our spring horse sales will be a sufficient reason for my calling the Council's attention to the fact that September is only 6 weeks away, and I would urge the Council to be certain that adequate yards will be obtainable for that month. At present our old yards are pulled down and the new site is an unfenced ploughed field. Can yards or anything but quagmires be made at this season of the year ? Let the state of our roads be an answer. Therefore as the present order of things has been brought about by four Councillors and the Mayor; against the wish of the majority of the Councilors, against the wish of your business people and in defiance of the request of our stockholders, therefore I say it behoves these administrators to bestir themselves and to jealously see to it that the reputation of Cambridge for holding the biggest and best horse sales of this colony is not allowed to suffer. Will the 5000 Club take this matter in hand ?—I am etc., Damocles. ■^Cambridge
