Watt, has informed the Cabinet of his intention to resign from the State Premiersihp. and to contest the Balaclava seat at the Federal elections. This is the seat held by Mr Agar Wynne, Postmaster-General, who is about to resign. Sir A. Peacock, Minister for Education, will succeed Mr Watt as Premier and Treasurer.
