THE PUBLIC TRUSTEE. Received 12.20 a.m., 17th. London, June IG. The Daily Chronicle urges legislation to regularise the position of the Public Trustee, which is becoming one of the largest dipartments. It already has £120,000,000 in business investments and may have £500,000. 000 within 20 years, yet it is not responsible to any Minister. The Public Trustee holds £8,500,000 in home railways, rivalling the greatest banks, and h ; s vote on such a question as the railwaymen's wages might be of national importance.
