VALUATIONS DEPLETED. {LEAVE TO APPEAL REFUSED. : By Telegraph.—Press Association. Hokitika, Thursday. After three days' heating, and one day's visit to a portion of the county, the Assessment Court today ruled against the* Westland County i Council in respect to the objections ■ lodged against a number of valua- ; tions made by the Valuation Depart- | ment. The court held that the valuation had been tairly carried out, and was ; not inequitable, and the council I remedies lie in differential rating. Mr Murdoch, counsel for the i county, asked for leave to appeal on ; the point of law, that the court had , not arrived at its decision in accord- | ance with the statutory direction as ; affecting selling values, and quoted I Mr Duthie, the Valuer-General. The court refused leave to appeal.
