CHAMPIONSHIP MEETING. By Telegraph,—Press Association, Blenheim, Monday. The New Zealand amateur swimming championship competitions were commenced here this evening. Over 100 visiting swimmers were present. Results:— 75yds Inter-Club Handicap. - - Wellington, I; Bristed, Nelson, 2; Wilton, Picton, 3. 100 yds Championship (holder, M. E. Champion).—First heat: Champion 1, Atkinson 2, /innand 3. Second heat: Jerred 1, .Sinton 2, Cookson 8, Final: Champion, Auckland, 1; Atkinson, Opawa, 2; Sinton, Waitemata, 3. Examination recently begaa in Chicago for women candidates for the municipal police force.
