THE INDRABARAH

By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Monday. There appears to be a conflict of opinion regarding what has really happened lately to the Indrabarah. The postmaster at Bulls wired yesterday that the Indrabarah was closer in shore than she has been since May 10th, the morning she stranded, and most of her lines have given away. The Terawhiti returned to Wiling ton, and no further attempt can be made for a fortnight.

Captain Rainey, superintendent of the Tyaer line, contradicts the above statement. Mr Nathan, manager for the agents of the company, states that Capt. Rainey informed him that the position of the vessel is unchanged, and the prospects of refloating her are good. The reason why she was not refloated on these spring tides was because the tides were poor. He concludes by stating that there is absolutely no foundation for the report that most of the lines had carried away. The captain of the Terawhiti stated that the Indrabarah had not gone further inshore when he left, and there was little likelihood of her doing so. On Thursday a couple .of lines carried away, but when the Terawhiti left all were intact and coupled weigh the ship and the anchors. The vessel has been lightened and is now only drawing ICJ feet. Wanganui, Monday. In the opinion of a number of Wanganui people w'ho visited the Indraharah yesterday, the prospects of refloating the vessel are more remote than ever. The vessel’s bow is only about five yards from the beach at low water. The beach for a mile or more is strewn with jettisoned cargo, which is being salved. Two lines from the stern to the anchors seawards are still intact. The port anchor holding the bow steel hawser is connected with the shore keeping the vessel in position.
