HAMILTON DOMAIN BOARD

A meeting of the Domain Board was held last night. Present ; Messrs Manning, chairman, Fow, Tristram, McKinnon, Booth, Rcche, and Hammond. ANNUAL REPORT. The annual report stated that Seddon Park had been laid down in grass, and about four acres bad been formed into cricket pitches. A new fence had been erected on the second side of Steele Park. The Lake Reserve had been cleared of undergrowth, trees hud been cut back, paths formed and general work in connection with the maintenance of reserves used for recreation purposes carried out. It was proposed to spend £3OOO 011 laying out gardens and general improvements to grounds used for recreation purposes. Permission was granted the officebearers of the Hamilton Methodist Sunday School to use the Lake Reserve for the annual picnic on Saturday next. TRANSFER. Mr Frank W. Harrison wrote asking permission to transfer his Interest in the domain lease of flections 6 and 7 of 183 Hamilton East to Mr Edmund Lord. - Permission granted, the transfer to be dated from January Ist, 1913. PLAYING GROUNDS,. A letter was received front mlr RPallison, secretary of the H»fii||on Wanderers’ Football Club, asking permission to use one of llui playlpg spaces in Seddon Park for the coming season.-On the motion of the chairman it was decided to grant a apace fur matches.

The committee set up to deal with the upkeep of domain lands, consisting of the chairman, Mr A. E. Manning. and Messrs Hammond and Roche, and also Messrs Danleti and Lux ford (representing the Waikato Sporta Association, recommended that a charge of 11s per match he made to the Cricket Association for the use of each playing ground during the season; that to male hockey players the charge be 11a per day for each ground, and that the ladies be charged 2s 0d per match; that to footballers the charge bo 12s 6d per match for each ground; that all sports grounds be prepared for different sports and kept in good order; that the Sporta Association ba asked to submit to the board •\ list of fixtures for each season at the beginning ol the season, and that for any extra matches seven days' notice be given to the board that the ground is required; that the grassing of the cricket pilch in Seddon Bark be put in hand at the proper season.-The report was adopted with the exception of the recommendation relating to the grassing of Hie cricket wicket, which was referred hack to the committee. REPORT. The domain caretaker reported as follows; "Work done during the month: Cutting and raking young fern and gom, Banding paths and weeding, cutting and raking round bandstand flat, cutting and clearing Seddon Park, cleaning out all drains and trimming pathways there, cleaning up after removal of hay and weeding entrance gateways. I would suggest that the dressing shed in the Lake Reserve have a front put to it, leaving open sufficient for a dourway, and also that arrangements he made for this shed to be used at different hours by males and females. The black swan has now become very tame and takes food from visitors. A few companions for it would be a great attraction.-The report was adopted. WATER FOR FRANKTON.

On the chairman's motion it was agreed to grant the Frankton Town Board permission to pump water from the lake to the water tower. THE NEW BOARD.

The chairman reported that while in Auckland a fortnight ago he met the official in charge of tho branch of the Lands Department which dealt with domains and reserves. This gentleman informed him that noth ing had yet been done in connection with the setting up of the new board, and suggested that the board should be limited to six members, including two elected representatives, i.e,. councillors. The chairman had then suggested to the official that the Mayor for the time being and Cr Hammond should be placed on tho board.
