NEWCASTLE ROAD BOARD

The monthly meeting of the above board was held at the office, Obote, yesterday. Present:—Messrs E. C. Shepherd, chairman, W. D. Laxon and R. H. Nicholson. Mr W. H. The Wilson Cement Company wrote re metal ordered fof Koromatua road, the money for which was grunted by the Government two years ago.—The chairman reported having authorised the delivery, and his action was confirmed.

The various works required in all parts of the district were gone into, and authorised tenders for which are to be in by next meeting of the board. Mr J. W. Win forwarded copy of resolution passed at a public meeting at Awa, Moutere County, protesting against the suggested abolition of road boards.—lt was decided to support the resolution. Tire clerk presented a list amounting to £SO 3s 4d, being unrecoverable rates, chiefly on native lands, and a resolution was passed striking them off the books.
