An Arrest Made.

A Local Lad to be Charged,

Following up the clue provided by the finding of the gun, Detective McMahon and Constable Bern pursued their investigations, with the result that John Minton Pauli was arrested this morning and charged with the offence. From the scant information that is available we understand that the lad hired a horse from Buchanan’s stables on Tuesday morning, and his movements, which he denies, have been traced as far as Tamahere; and it is also stated that he was seen at Mystery Creek on Tuesday morning carrying a gun.

The gun has been identified as having been in his possession, which, however, he also denies.

The police arc continuing their investigations, and further developments are anticipated.
