Concert at the Hospital.

The concert given by the Hamilton Choral Society in the now hospital last evening went off most successfully. In addition to the part songs given by the society, items were rendered by Miss Henderson, Miss Ina Bosworth, Dr. Douglas, and Messrs Warren, and Northcroft. At the conclusion of the programme. Dr. Douglas, on behalf of the patients and staff, heartily thanked the Chora! Society for the c itettainment, and hoped they would come again. He said that night was an historic one, for it was the first to be passed in the new building. It had been a very busy and tiring day for all, and he thought the final part song, "The Long Dav Closes," given that evening, was singularly appropriate. There was, he thought, a touch of sadness in the desertion of the old building. It had served its purpose well tor ..wenty years, and now for it the long day had also closed. He had worked there for the past nine or ten years, and doubtless there were some present who remembered his predecessor, Dr. Kenny, who had worked so hard and skilfully under the many adverse conditions of those earlier years. Their present matron, Miss Rothwell, who had received much of her training at that time, would now be able to fully appreciate the improved conditions under which they would be working. He hoped that evening would mark the commencement of the cure of many of their patients, and concluded by again thanking the Choral Society for their kindness. Mr Dixon, on behalf of the society, thanked Dr. Douglas for the reception accorded them, and said they would be very pleased to come again on some future occasion. At the invitation of the matron, the company then adjourned to the 'Nurses' Home for supper, which was much appreciated by all. Our report would be incomplete without a word of praise for Messrs Dalgliesh and McDonald, who are deserving of all credit for running their larce brake free of charge.
