_ * . OPENING OF THE WHITIOkA GkEEN. The official opening of the Whitiora Bjwling Club, Hamilton, took place on Saturday afternoon. Mr Grecnslade, M.P., opened the proceedings with a neat speech, giving the history of the club, and then called on Mr Booth, the president, to open the rinks. Mr Booth, in a few well chosen remarks, in which he extended a hearty welcome to the visitors, called on Mrs Booth to throw the jack and declared the green open. Three ful rinks played in the usual opening match Presidents v. Vice-Presidents, and the fouth rink was reserved for visitors and the "colts" of the club. After play, Mr J. S. Bond, on behalf of the visitors, thanked the members cf the club for the afternoon's enjoyment, and called for cheers for the ladies, which were heartily given.
