Hockey.

HINEMOA v. RAUPO. The above ladies' hockey teams met on Steele Park yesterday afternoon, when a large number of spectators were present. Although this is their first appearance, a rather exciting game resulted, the Raupos eventually notching the winning goal on the call of time. Mr Lucien had control of the whistle, and gave valuable hints to the players.

The Hamilton Hockey Club's team to play Kiakaha at Claudelands on Saturday at 3 o'clock will be picked from the following :—Northcroft, Empson, Lee, Barton, Davy, Niccoll (2), Owen, Holder, Rowe, Cowley, Warren, Peerless, Armstrong, and Kavanagh.

At Steele Park yesterday the practice match United A v. United B resulted in a win for the former by 8 goals to nil. For the winners the forwards all played well, Rice standing out alone. Among the backs Hooper and McKenzie played their usual sound games; Long and Innes also did their work well. Halliwell, at goal, was very safe. For the losers Houghton and Astley were the best forwards, Cleveland being the pick of the backs. Suell, at goal, also played a very useful game. Mr Lucien had charge of the game, and gave every satisfaction. A very interesting match was played at Claudelands yesterday between a combined team and Green and Colebrook's team. In the first spell the combined team, by open play, scored three goals to Green and Colebrook's nil; but in the second spell Green and Colebrook's opened up the game more, and scored two goals. Shortly afterwards the combined team placed another goal from a penalty bully to their credit, and the game ended—combined team 4 goals, Green and Colebrook's 2. Mr Northcroft, as referee, gave every satisfation.
